A Costa Rica Honeymoon
Planning a wedding is stressful; your honeymoon shouldn’t be. So when my now-husband and I went about arranging our Costa Rica honeymoon, we wanted to ensure that the booking process and the trip itself ran smoothly. Of course, this was a once-in-a-lifetime trip and we weren’t willing to sacrifice the vacation of our dreams for ease-of-planning. Fortunately, with a little research, we got both.
Costa Rica
may very well be the ideal honeymoon destination. There are beaches and all-inclusives for stress-free lounging, plenty of eco-tourism activities for the environmentally conscious and no shortage of thrills for the daring. Costa Rica offers renowned surfing spots, world-class shopping locales and breathtaking scenic views. Most places accept US dollars and, while many of us try to communicate using our high school Spanish skills, English is widely spoken and understood. What’s more, the country is small enough for honeymooners to travel between several diverse locations, piecing together their dream vacation.
After some preliminary research, my husband-to-be and I decided there were specific hotels in which we wanted to stay and certain activities we wanted to do. We then turned to Meni Mikowski at Memorable Costa Rica who, working from our laundry list of must-dos, organized a package and took care of all the details and arrangements. Not only did this make our honeymoon planning process hassle-free, but it allowed for a truly relaxing getaway—something every bride and groom need after the stress of a wedding.
Our Costa Rican honeymoon ran seamlessly. Our pre-paid, pre-arranged itinerary—which included all reservations for hotels, excursions, transportation and transfers—practically ran itself. Our activities were booked with companies boasting strong reputations for safety and customer service and, best of all, we got to experience everything on our wish list. Over the course of ten days, we hiked the cloud forest, played with indigenous animals, soaked in natural hot springs, dined in the shadow of an active volcano, rafted the rapids of the Sarapiqui River, ziplined at 660 feet, mingled with locals, learned the art of cigar rolling, enjoyed massages on the beach, snorkeled up the coast and got some much needed R&R. And because we booked through a reputable agency, our only responsibility was to show up—every minute detail was arranged for us.
Its diverse offerings coupled with the ability to navigate between them over the course of one’s stay makes Costa Rica the perfect place to unwind after a wedding. And with the help of a reputable Costa Rican travel agency, the couple—already overwhelmed with wedding arrangements— can leave the booking and logistics to the pros.
